Designing a novel X-ray telescope for a mission to Jupiter...

... developing the technology required for the telescope...

... and understanding the science of X-ray production at Jupiter!

A woman in Stem
a master of physics
a girl who loves space
Hello, I am Natasha! Since I can remember, I have been in love with space - whether it be stars and astronomy or the Apollo missions and astronauts on the International Space Station.
I graduated in 2023 with a first class Masters degree in Physics with Space Science MPhys (Hons) from the University of Leicester and I am in the same place now pursuing a PhD. I am a researcher in the Space Projects and Instrumentation group and Planetary group in the School of Physics and Astronomy with my incredible supervisory team - Dr Charly Feldman, Dr Simon Lindsay and Dr Adrian Martindale.
My research includes designing a novel X-ray telescope for a NASA concept mission called COMPASS. This includes developing the optics, seeing how those optics would work with a detector and understanding the science that we could discover!
Join me on my journey to go from MPhys to PhD and beyond!

Travelling

I have the goal to visit 30 countries before I am 30 years old! In 2025, I add China and Greece to that list!
Theatre

I am in amateur dramatics and have performed in every theatre in Leicester! My favourite role was Carole King in Beautiful!
Outreach
I love to share my passion for space and STEM with anyone from kids to grandparents. I also tutor teens who are doing their GCSEs and A Levels!
